Our
methods
Cultural
analysis
Every cultural element is analysed and adapted, if necessary.
The code is studied carefully, in order to maximise
its potential, and, if necessary, the graphics are redeveloped
in the same style as the original so as to offer a product
which doesn't appear merely translated but rather developed
directly in our own language. Dubbing reflects the original
and is used where possible with realistic Italian vocal
tones. Dubbing reflects the original voice over and
is adapted where possible in order to use realistic
Italian vocal tones. For songs, we always seek the collaboration
of talented professionals, often from the world of showbusiness.
Our cultural localisations do not fear rivals at European
level, so much that modules which we have developed
specially for Europe are often reused by producers and
supplied to localisers from other countries.
Adaptation
The products often require the intervention of an entire
work group made up of first-rate translators and experts
of the field. In the case of an encyclopaedia, for example,
the names of works of art and places would be changed
to the official Italian names: dates, authors and places
are checked to ensure consistency with Italian tradition
with the aid of numerous reference texts. In products
for children, instead, the editing would be based on
a precise but free adaptation process. For example,
complex English pronunciation exercises could be perfectly
ordinary for an Italian child. It is our duty to adapt
such exercises in order to make them suitably stimulating
in Italian.
Songs
In their original versions, children's products often
boast wonderful songs which, with their lively lyrics
and splendid executions, help children learn about certain
subjects while having fun. Oku Studio takes care of
all these aspects in order to produce songs with intelligent,
educational lyrics faithful to the original and, at
the same time, adapted to the Italian market. Oku Studio
finds challenges such as songs with texts on video and
animations to be even more stimulating. A fitting example
is "Seconda Elementare" (Knowledge Adventure's 2nd
Grade), whose musical adaptation practically became
an obsession to us...
Dubbing
Using voices known to children, such as television presenters
of programs targeted to their age group, is only one
of the strings to Oku Studio's bow in terms of dubbing.
Voices are extremely important, whether in educational
or reference products. After all, what would become
of a good film if badly dubbed? Oku Studio chooses voices
carefully on the basis of the product to be localised
in order always to supply excellent diction together
with characterisations aimed at the product's appropriate
audience (children, teenagers, adults).
Graphics
In almost all localisations, graphics must be produced
from scratch and parts of the background touched up.
Oku Studio can offer free-hand graphics and experts
in touching up photographs, which ensure that complex
images with texts to be translated don't lose in beauty
but rather gain in worth.
